Have you read them?
I've read the first six books, took me a while to finish the sixth, and have still yet to read the seventh book but I already had the basic of that novel spoiled to me so I don't see much reason to read it now.
I found out about them through the film adaption and bought the first four books and then the fifth when it came out. To this day Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is my favorite book of the series. I couldn't put it down once I started reading.
Yourself?

OF COURSE I HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! -ahem- Sorry about that. As you can tell, I'm a Harry Potter fanatic I got the first book for my birthday the year it came out, I think I was in 6th grade. Then I got the second and third books and decided I should give it a try and read them. I didn't like them at first.. in fact, I hated them. But once I got past the first few chapters in Sorcerer's Stone, I was in love. I despise the movies. The first one is, by far, the best ever. It was the most true to the books and god bless Chris Columbus for that (anyone know he also wrote the screenplay for Gremlins?). Although I will say I liked Goblet of Fire, the movies have generally disappointed me. Could have been SOOO much better with just a little effort. Oh well. Favorite characters? Snape and Sirius. I've been a Snape fan since the beginning and defended him honorably until we all found out he was really a good guy I knew he couldn't be that bad. And Sirius? Well let's say I was devistated to say goodbye. Lease favorite character? Harry. Yes, I said it. Good day to you.

Harry has his moments where I want to smack him over the head. I enjoy playing a character on HP forums where there's a Harry Potter and I'm a character that would constantly insult him.
My favorite characters are Hermione, Sirius Black, Lupin, Snape and Albus Dumbledore.
...Go figure that only one of them would survive the story.

I read all of them. I even avoided the internet for a short while in '07 before the final book came out, in the interest of avoiding spoilers. I re-read them all a couple summers ago. The first three are definitely my favorites, though I liked the last one a lot too. Actually, I didn't really dislike any of them. So it's all good. I've never seen the movies.

I wish I avoided the Internet when Half Blood Prince was out. Some jerks decided to spoil the ending and after that I just lost interest in reading the book because now I already knew what happened.
Jerks...

You mean the spoiler where Snape kill-- err, the Titanic sank? Yeah, that was ruined for me too, but it was at a point where I'd lost interest in the series. It wasn't until a year or so later that I decided to catch up with the series again. For a while though, it was all anyone talked about in GT.

You too?
Yeah the sixth book kinda killed it for me, and I didn't bother to finish it until a few months ago. I was going to read through the last book but meh. I already know how it ends and all the major plot events thanks to spending too much time on the Harry Potter wiki.

It's still a good read if you don't mind the fact that they spend very little time at the school. I've always read the books for the adventure, not the plot, though. So I probably wouldn't be too bothered by something like that.

I, too, learned to avoid the internet because of things like that. Whenever I saw a post about ANYTHING Harry Potter I wouldn't even click on it until I'd read the book. Don't remember what it was now, but something was ruined for me that way and I learned my lesson. Some people just don't think before speaking.

Guess we won't have to worry about those Internet spoilers now that the last book was already made. Unless she plans to make a spin-off series starring Albus Potter...
