Mount and Blade, a wonderful game from turkey, it looks a little rough around the edges but it's highly addictive, a medieval themed sandbox/adventure game. It's lacking fantasy elements, which I believe strengthens the game, and the combat engine is quite well made, momentum of a blow, I.E. from moving with or against a blow or striking from horseback, effects how much damage is done. Also this game had a well made and fully functional horseback combat system, fighting from horseback offered it's own strengths and weaknesses, making for a real game-changer. Another aspect of the game I liked was armies. You could rally troops to your cause and march to battle, every battle they fought in and survived garnered experience that leveled their gear and skills up, but also increased their weekly pay. There is something immensely satisfying about watching a pack of lowly Norse peasants work their way through struggle and determination to a pack of long-ax swinging Huscarls, or some dirty serfs you hired at the start of the game finally charging into battle on horseback, black armor gleaming in the sun and lances pointed forward. The game doesn't look it but it's quite new, yet it feels unfinished and unpolished... yet I still find it immensely fun and enjoy picking it up and losing myself in it.
