We spent a good time talking about Bands, so let talk about genres of music. I'll start with Rap.
A while back I thought Rap was all about swear words, drugs, money and sex. I've long surpass that ignorance thankfully. I like a good rap now and again, just not the dirty stuff. I enjoy the beat and rhymes.
You?

I can appreciate a little bit of rap. There's some that I like, specifically Eminem, but I don't sit down and listen to the local hip-hop/crap radio station

I find that a surprising amount of it really has deep meaning and puts the world down as it is without turning it into some fairytale. I am a huge fan of the local rap and hip hop station, as opposed to Miss Daisy.

ours is 95.5 XXX! (like that's supposed to be cool or something ) All they play is garbage. New Rap/ Hip-Hop is total nonsense to me. I'd rather not hear about someone's rims on their car, or all the "ladies" they spend their time with, or their rotting teeth (grill ). And I certainly don't want to hear a 15 year old rap about how he swims in a pool of money or something ridiculous like that. I'd much rather listen to some Eminem, Black Eyed Pease, or Tupac, thank you very much.

I like some of the modern mainstream rap music; Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Jay-Z. The song content isn't a problem to me because while wealth flaunting is overdone in hip-hop, how many love songs have we heard in other genres? As long as the music sounds good then I'm cool with it although obviously I would rather hear better lyrics. But as I live in the UK, I don't have to put up with crap like Gucci Mane, Cali Swag District, Nick Cannon, Waka Flocka Flame etc. They don't get air play here and it's a good job, they're dragging hip-hop down.
Miss Daisy, what are your favourite 2Pac songs? For me, he is the best rapper of all-time.

I like atleast something from almost all types of rap. For the sake of this thread I'll just organize my favorites by three different categories. Mainstream is likely to be the least "violent" while Horrorcore would usually be most violent. In case people are looking for suggestions.
Mainstream Rap What you'd hear on the radio.
B.o.B. Gucci Mane Gorilla Zoe Kanye West
Rap Anything that I wouldn't describe as Mainstream or Horrorcore I'll put here.
Good solo artists. DMX Soulja Slim Juvenile Mike Jones David Banner Lil Scrappy DJ Paul Juicy J Jadakiss Everlast B-Real Scarface
Good rap groups. Three Six Mafia Geto Boyz La Coka Nostra/House of Pain Cypress Hill Snowgoons Naughty By Nature
Horrorcore Often described as "satanic rap."
If you don't like "Violent" rap, these suggestions aren't for you. Tech N9ne Prozak Lord Infamous Koopsta Knicca Brotha Lynch Hung X-Raided G-Macc DJ Fire & J Blaque
